Do you feel hungry after a massage?

The feeling of being hungry following a massage is quite normal. This is because massage therapy improves general blood circulation and stimulates the ‘rest and digest’
parasympathetic nervous system. When blood flow to the digestive system is increased, the activity ramps up and we can end up feeling hungry!

If you’re someone who feels hungry after a massage, try this homemade protein ball recipe which will give you a boost of magnesium (to help muscle soreness), protein (for muscle regeneration) and healthy fats (to reduce inflammation). If you’re tight on time, a handful of raw nuts and a piece of fruit will do the trick too!

  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 scoop vanilla pea or whey protein (optional)
  • 8 Medjool dates
  • ¼ cup water, if required
  • ¼ cup desiccated coconut, to roll

Combine all ingredients (except dates & protein powder), in a food processor until you have a crumb like consistency. Add protein powder and dates and process again until the mixture begins to blend. Use a spoon to scoop and form approx. 15 balls that sit nicely in the palm of your hand, you can use a little bit of coconut oil on your hands to avoid sticking! Roll in desiccated coconut and chill in the fridge to set.

Don’t overdo your portions, enjoy 1-2 balls at a time! YUM!
